On 24 November 2025, the International Charlemagne Prize Documentation Centre was opened in the heart of Aachen’s city centre. From now on, it invites visitors to explore the Charlemagne Prize laureates, European history and much more in an interactive format and in four languages.

 

The International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen and this year’s laureate, Ursula von der Leyen, are supporting the outstanding work of the German Trauma Foundation with project funding amounting to half a million euros.

This year’s Charlemagne Prize Academy Fellowships were awarded on 5 November in the Coronation Hall to Anca Agachi (Romania), Yu-Wei Chen (Taiwan), and Eduardo Brito (Portugal). The Fellows conduct research on EU defence policy, medical supply chains, and digital sovereignty in Europe.

Our Charlemagne Prize Academy supports outstanding early-career researchers who are working on innovative questions of pan-European relevance. The one-year fellowship offers financial and academic support for forward-looking research ideas in a European context. Apply by 17 August 2025!
